Signing on the Card Terminal
Customers can sign agreements and forms on your card terminal instead of on the screen. Staff tap Sign on terminal, the customer signs on the terminal's screen, and the signature fills in automatically.
This works with CardPointe card terminals only. The Sign on terminal button appears only when your store uses CardPointe and a terminal is set up.
Where it works
The Sign on terminal button sits next to Clear Signature wherever a signature is collected:
- Register Member — membership agreements, including guardian signing.
- Cashier — Sign Now for an existing member's outstanding agreements.
- Calendar — Sign Now when booking.
- Work orders and consignments — signature fields on forms.
Using it
- Tap Sign on terminal. The button changes to "Waiting for the customer to sign on the terminal…".
- The customer signs on the terminal screen.
- The signature appears in the signature box. Continue as usual.
If the customer takes too long or cancels, you'll see an error and can tap the button again. The terminal waits about a minute. You can still draw the signature on screen if you prefer.
Which terminal is used
The terminal at the register you're working on. Set it under Setting > Cash Register > Card Terminal (see Cash Register). If your register has no terminal of its own, the first terminal set on a payment method is used, so a store with a single terminal needs nothing extra.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | What to check |
|---|---|
| No Sign on terminal button | Your store must use CardPointe, and a terminal must be set on the register or on a payment method. |
| "No signature was received" | Make sure the terminal is powered on, shows it's connected, and the customer signed within a minute. Then try again. |
| "The terminal is already waiting for a signature" | Another signature is in progress on that terminal. Wait for it to finish or time out. |
