Age Badge (Under 18 / Under 21)

The Cashier can show a small colored badge next to a member's name: UNDER 18 or UNDER 21. It helps your staff see a customer's age group at the counter.

The badge is an identification aid only. ManageRegister does not enforce, block or make any compliance decision based on it. Your staff make all eligibility, rental and compliance decisions.

What the Badges Mean

BadgeColorThe member is
UNDER 18RedUnder 18
UNDER 21Amber (orange)18, 19 or 20
No badgeNone21 or older, or has no date of birth on file

A member gets one badge at most. A member under 18 shows UNDER 18 only.

The badge is worked out from the member's date of birth.

Where You See It

  • Member 1. On the Cashier, the Member 1 card shows the member's name, then the badge.

  • Extra shooters. Click + Add second shooter to add a second person to the sale. They get their own Member 2 card with their own badge. The link then changes to + Add third shooter. A sale can have up to 3 shooters.

  • Member search. Click the Member 1 area to open the Search member pop-up. Search by name, email or code. In the results, a member with a badge has it as plain text after their name, for example:

    Alex Doe (Free) — alex@example.com [UNDER 18]

When you add a second shooter, the order Note fills in by itself, for example 2 people: Alex Doe, Sam Lee.

It Never Blocks a Sale

The badge is for information. No pop-up appears and the sale is not blocked. Select the member, add the items and take payment as usual.

For the members the Cashier does block, see Paused and Inactive Members.

No Badge Does Not Mean the Customer Is an Adult

The badge needs a date of birth on file. A member with no date of birth gets no badge, even if they are under 18. Follow your gym's policy for checking age.

Where the Date of Birth Comes From

The date of birth comes from ManageMemberships. ManageRegister reads it when you search for a member in the Cashier.

To enter or change it in ManageMemberships:

  1. Go to Membership → Members and open the member.
  2. On the Overview tab, open Contact Information.
  3. Fill in Birthday.
  4. Click Save.

Then search for the member again in the Cashier.

ManageMemberships also has a Require Birthdate switch under Settings → Portal Settings → Member Requirements. When it is on, members must enter their birthdate when they sign up. See Require Birthdate in the ManageMemberships help.

Members Without a Badge

A member created only in ManageRegister, with Create Member or Quick Add Member, has no date of birth, so the Cashier shows no badge for them. See Members and Guests.

Receipts

The badge is not shown on receipts.

Tips

  • If a badge looks wrong, check the member's Birthday in ManageMemberships.
  • A missing badge only means there is nothing to show. It does not confirm the customer's age.
